Tangerine closes UK factory with 75 jobs cut
Seventy-five staff working at the plant will be axed and Tangerine will transfer production to other sites.

Tangerine said that the decision was taken to ensure competitiveness by maximizing production capabilities.
Tangerine CEO Graham Hunter, said: “The decision to move production from the Poole site has not been taken lightly.”
“With increasingly tough market conditions, Tangerine Confectionery needs to ensure it runs efficiently and this has resulted in the decision to move production to our other sites.”
The Poole site is expected to close by March 2013.
Tangerine, the maker of Butterkist popcorn and the Barratt candy brand, has seven other production sites and employs 1,300 people.
Changes at Tangerine
At the start of this year, the company appointed ex-Northern Foods managing director Graham Hunter as its new CEO, after former head Chris Marshall moved into a non-executive role.
Soon after Hunter’s appointment, Tangerine acquired Smith Kendon Travel Sweets and York Fruits from private ownership for undisclosed fees.

According to our sister publication The Grocer, Tangerine’s operating profit for the year to 31 December 2011 fell 39% to £6.9m ($11m).
